Potchefstroom’s Erhard Wolfaardt and Andrea Steyn of Pretoria were crowned the 2009 BSG Energade Triathlon Series senior champions, after the final race of this seven-event competition, at the North-West University Vaal in Vanderbijlpark on Sunday morning (December 6).

The Erhard Wolfaardt show in the 2009 edition of the BSG Energade Triathlon Series came to an end this morning, November 29 when duathlon star, Richard Murray of Cape Town caused the upset of the series by beating the lanky Potchefstroom athlete in the sixth race of the competition at Pollock Beach in Port Elizabeth.

After all too often being the bridesmaid and not the bride in the BSG Energade Triathlon Series, Bloemfontein’s Kate Roberts this morning, November 22, had her chance to come down the “aisle” first as she won the fifth leg of this premier sprint triathlon competition at Bloubergstrand in Cape Town.

Erhard Wolfaardt and Andrea Steyn have the 2009 BSG Energade Triathlon Series winner’s trophies firmly in their grasp after winning the fourth stage in this year’s competition at the Germiston Lake on Sunday morning, November 8.

The lanky Potch athlete crossed the line in the senior men’s division in a time of 55:56 to claim victory ahead of Sander Berk second in 56:31 and Hendrik de Villiers third in 56:52.

A team of eight aspiring triathletes from Mamelodi had their first taste of competing in this exhilarating three-discipline sport when they participated in the second leg of the BSG Energade Triathlon Series at Potch Dam in the North West Province on Sunday, October 18.
